A New Generation Is Changing the Game

There is something special happening in girls flag football.

It’s one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, creating opportunities that didn’t exist just a few years ago. College programs are expanding, national showcases are becoming more competitive, and athletes across the country are beginning to see a legitimate path to continuing their careers at the collegiate level.

Among those athletes helping shape the future of the game is Ralynn Hunt, our July Athletix Player of the Month.

A Class of 2028 student-athlete from Las Vegas, Nevada, Hunt has spent the last six years developing into one of the most exciting young athletes in the Southwest. Playing Wide Receiver, Center, and Safety, she has competed on both school and travel teams in 5v5 and 7v7 flag football, earning recognition through her leadership, competitiveness, and relentless energy.

Earlier this year, Ralynn added another accomplishment to her growing resume when she was named MVP of the Arizona College Showcase, proving she can perform when the competition is at its highest.

But her journey didn’t begin catching touchdown passes.

From Quarterback to Playmaker

Before becoming a versatile receiver and defensive standout, Ralynn lined up at quarterback on an all-boys football team.

That experience helped shape much more than her throwing ability.

It taught her leadership.

It expanded her football IQ.

It challenged her to compete against older and stronger athletes while learning every aspect of the game.

“I fell in love with the competition, the teamwork, and the excitement of football,” Hunt said. “Football has challenged me in so many ways and helped me become more confident both on and off the field.”

Today, that same competitive mindset allows her to impact the game from multiple positions.

At wide receiver, she enjoys creating explosive plays and moving the chains. At safety, she embraces the challenge of reading offenses and making game-changing defensive stops.

Regardless of where she’s lined up, one thing never changes—her energy.

Ralynn demonstrates confidence getting off the line of scrimmage and works to create separation through disciplined route running. She understands leverage, attacks defenders with purpose, and shows solid body control entering and exiting her breaks. As she continues refining her route tempo and deception, her ability to consistently separate from defenders will only improve.

Catching Mechanics

One of Ralynn’s strengths is her willingness to attack the football. Rather than waiting on passes, she works to secure the ball with her hands while maintaining concentration through traffic. She shows dependable hands and body control, giving quarterbacks confidence to throw in her direction.

Run After Catch (RAC)

After securing the football, Ralynn transitions quickly from receiver to playmaker. She accelerates into open space, displays good vision, and competes for every extra yard. Her competitive nature makes her difficult to stop in one-on-one situations.

Safety Evaluation

Range & Football IQ

Ralynn demonstrates strong instincts on the defensive side of the ball. She works to read the quarterback’s eyes, anticipates developing plays, and closes ground efficiently. Her early experience playing quarterback is evident in how she recognizes offensive concepts before the play unfolds.

Pulling Efficiency

Open-field flag pulling is one of the most overlooked skills in flag football, and Ralynn consistently displays good technique. She takes smart pursuit angles, stays under control in space, and finishes plays without overcommitting.

Overall Recruiting Evaluation

Ralynn is a versatile two-way athlete whose value extends well beyond statistics. Her football IQ, leadership qualities, coachability, and high motor make her an intriguing prospect as collegiate flag football continues to expand nationwide.

More Than Football

Away from the field, Ralynn is quick to tell you that football isn’t the only thing that defines her.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering at her local elementary school, and finding ways to give back to her community. Whether she’s helping younger students or encouraging teammates, she strives to leave every place a little better than she found it.

“I enjoy being a positive role model for younger kids,” she said. “It’s rewarding to encourage them, help them learn, and hopefully inspire them to chase their own goals.”

She’s also a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball and volleyball, sports she credits for improving her quickness, hand-eye coordination, reaction time, and mental toughness.

When she finally gets a break from training, you’ll probably find her relaxing with her family—or spending time with her two bulldogs, a French Bulldog and an English Bulldog.

Every successful athlete has people who help make the journey possible.

For Ralynn, that foundation starts at home.

“My family has had the biggest impact on my journey,” she said. “They’ve taught me the importance of hard work, staying humble, and never giving up. My mom taught me how to throw a football, and my dad helped me with my routes.”

Their encouragement continues to fuel her pursuit of excellence both academically and athletically.

Her goal is simple.

Continue improving.

“I want to play college flag football at a program that pushes me to become a better athlete while giving me the opportunity to continue my education.”

Leadership isn’t something that can be measured on a stat sheet.

It’s earned through actions.

Teammate Alayna Heath summed Ralynn up perfectly.

“Ralynn is always getting the team motivated. She’s always hyped up and is a leader on the team. She’s a great teammate and really good at her position.”

That kind of praise speaks volumes about the impact she has on everyone around her.

Looking Ahead

When asked what advice she would give younger athletes, Ralynn didn’t hesitate.

“Never stop believing in yourself. Keep working hard, stay coachable, and don’t let setbacks define you. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow.”

Those words mirror how she approaches every practice and every game.

She hopes people remember her not simply for making plays, but for making a difference.

“I want people to remember me as someone who always gave 100%, treated others with respect, and made a positive impact on everyone around me.”

For years, athletes dreamed about opportunities that simply didn’t exist. Today, that landscape is changing rapidly. Colleges across the country are adding women’s flag football programs, co-ed club teams continue to expand, and national showcases and tournaments are attracting more coaches than ever before.

The opportunities are real, and they’re growing every season.
